Welcome, welcome to One Minute Crypto! I’m your host, Chronos, and today, a crackdown
coming from the IRS. There have been rumors floating around for
awhile that they’re going to do something about bitcoin, but now it’s official. This is hosted at irs.gov, the latest version
of their Form 1040, which is basically the form that US Citizens use to file their taxes. It has a new giant question smack at the top. “At any time during 2019, did you receive,
sell, send, exchange, or otherwise acquire any financial interest in any virtual currency?” Well, I sure did, because our sponsor, Americas
Cardroom, paid me in cryptocurrency to produce this video. Now, you might be thinking this won’t apply
to you, but wait a minute, what about those Dogecoins that troll sent you on Twitter last
month? Bad news, you just received a financial interest
in a virtual currency. Now it looks like this question is for informational
purposes only. It sounds like answering yes or no doesn’t
affect the amount of tax you owe. And on the bright side, it puts the topic
of crypto in front of a huge audience. Dare I say it? This is good for bitcoin.
