Both in the largest cities of Russia and in hundreds of villages on New Year’s Eve, dreams are coming true thanks to the charity project Christmas Tree of Wishes. Orphans, children fighting diseases, from low-income or large families, as well as older people wrote letters to Santa Claus. Volunteers did everything to make their dreams come true. Vladimir Putin again joined the all-Russian charity event. The president helped ten-year-old Andrei Kochetov, who visited the slopes of Krasnaya Polyana and the Olympic Park in Sochi. Darya Okuneva reports on it. Look how much snow there is! It’s breathtaking and dizzy from the height, but Andrei said that he’s not afraid of a bit and immediately showed courage, and then for the first time in his life, he went skiing – right on the slope of the Black Pyramid. Shall we go faster? No? OK. This is not just a trip to the mountains for Andrey – this is conquering the summit. For seven years he has been struggling with acute leukemia. To see Krasnaya Polyana is his New Year’s dream, which President Vladimir Putin helped to fulfill. – Hello, Andrey. How was the ride, tell me? – Good.
– What did you like most? – Most of all, I liked skiing for the first time. – So, do you want to ski more? When it is suitable for you? – Tomorrow – Fine. Is there snow there. Can you ski? – Yes. – Great. Agreed. I will ask my colleagues so they will organize your skiing sessions tomorrow. OK? – Yes. Fine and thank you. – Just be careful. Alpine skiing is an extreme sport. Do you promise? – Yes, I promise. – Fine. I hug you, my dear. I wish you pleasant skiing tomorrow. Andrey walked along the longest suspension bridge in Russia and played snowballs at an altitude of 2000 meters. He was delighted and thrilled, and there were tears of joy. Usually, his world is limited to a small apartment in Budennovsk. Due to his illness, Andrei was even recommended to study at home. The only joy is chess. “And at ten years old, I really want real adventures” On New Year’s Eve Andrei begged his mother to send a letter to the All-Russian project “Christmas Tree of Wishes” with a wish to show him the mountains. I want it so much so it will come true. Volunteers decorated the Christmas tree with children’s dreams at the International Forum of Volunteers to find those who will help them fulfill their wishes. – The grey ones are more complex. – More complex? Let me pick this one. Visit Krasnaya Polyana, is it really difficult? It’s easy! Andrey did not believe at first, it seems, but here he is – the Olympic Park, shining Ferris wheel and singing fountains. A dream come true! Volunteers are sure that these kinds of adventures will give Andrey strength to fight against the disease.

The “wish tree” has already fulfilled 451 dreams, including Andrei’s dream. This year, volunteers promise to give a miracle to another two thousand dreamers. There may be more dreams that come true – volunteers continue to receive letters. Andrew decided to write more.
